Down the Stretch Track Fest
Down the Stretch Track Fest is presented by Light Horse Track Club at the George Mason University outdoor track on May 23, 2026. The event is a USATF certified track meet and will be professionally timed.
Races on the track include:
- Mile
- 5000m (5k track)
- 10000m (10k track)
- 4x800 relay
The meet runs open/community heats through select and elite/pro sections. Heats are seeded by entry time. Open races are combined men and women and require the ability to maintain a 10:00 pace for the mile or 5k. The Youth Mile is open to children 13 and under who can maintain a 15:00 mile and youth entry to that race is free. Select race cutoffs are noted for the 10k and other select fields. The Webb Mile carries prize money of $300, $150 and $50 for the top three places.
Event amenities include music, food and on-site beer, a bag drop area at check-in, and facility access to the GMU fieldhouse and adjacent parking. One complimentary beverage is included with entry. Spectator admission is required for non-competing attendees; trackside seating is limited and includes a reserved seat and a beverage. A portion of proceeds will benefit Girls on the Run Northern Virginia. A pole vault competition is organized in conjunction with the meet by the local pole vault club.
