Down the Stretch Track Fest
The Down the Stretch Track Fest is a track and field event organized by the Light Horse Track Club. Held at the George Mason University Track in Fairfax, Virginia, the meet features a variety of distances on a USATF certified track. The event is professionally timed and includes races ranging from community and open heats to elite and professional sections.
The meet includes several standard track distances:
- Mile (including a Youth Mile for ages 13 and under)
- 5000m
- 10000m
- 4x800m Relay
Registration is open to all ages, with heats seeded based on entry times provided by the participants. Open races generally combine men and women, while select races are separated by gender. The 5000m and Mile open sections require participants to maintain a pace of 10:00 per mile or faster. The 10000m distance is reserved for select sections with specific entry standards.
The venue features the outdoor track complex located behind the George Mason University Fieldhouse. Facilities include a bag drop area and on-site food and beverage vendors. Spectators are required to purchase general admission tickets to access the facility, though children aged four and under enter for free. All participants must check in upon arrival to receive bib numbers and final heat assignments. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
