Exchange 5 provides a Half Way Buffet with hot soup or broth and PB&J sandwiches. Headlamps or flashlights are required for the early portion of the race and are recommended if a runner approaches the 12 hour limit; lights may be dropped at mile 5.4 for later pickup.

Crew support is allowed only inside aid station areas. Pacers are not permitted and will result in disqualification. Solo finishers receive a finisher medal and a winter beanie. A Solo Finisher tent offers warm space, food, and changing areas, and a shared party tent at the finish provides food and beverages for participants; guests may enter for a cover charge.
