Washington Island Ultra
Washington Island Ultra is a timed endurance event on Washington Island, Wisconsin held over a multi-day weekend in June. It offers both 36 hour and 24 hour options for solo athletes or relay teams, with team sizes and per-person fees noted for each distance. The 2027 edition is sold out and a waitlist is in use; priority registration for future events opens in early July.
The event format awards the most complete laps, triathlons, or duathlons completed within the allotted time. Athletes may complete laps of swim, bike, or run in any order. Teams may have only one athlete on course at a time and must exchange athletes inside the transition area. Each athlete or team is assigned a pit area in the event village located beside the bike and run course and across from Gislason Beach. Food is served inside the Red Barn. A charging station and power strips are provided but personal charging cords are not supplied. Portable restrooms and an aid station with select nutrition products and snacks are available.
Equipment and safety notes include no open flames in pit areas, securing tents against wind, quiet hours in the village beginning in the evening, and required lights for night hours. Practice night riding is recommended for the bike course.
