Castlewood Adventure Race
The Castlewood Adventure Race is an off-road, multi-sport navigation event held in the St Louis area. Teams use a map and compass to move between checkpoints while combining paddling, mountain biking, and travel on foot. The exact race course is not disclosed in advance; a course overview is provided closer to the event to help with gear and food planning. The route may include woods, rivers, and local roads, and the event may or may not go through Castlewood State Park.
Participants should plan for several hours of continuous movement through mixed terrain. Organizers indicate typical on-course movement lasts roughly four to eight hours. Expected segment distances are:
- Paddling: 5 to 10 miles
- Biking: 15 to 20 miles
- Foot travel: 5 to 10 miles
The race offers individual and team entry options, including solo, two-person, three-person, and four-person teams, plus a family category defined as two or more related people with at least one participant over 18 and one under 18 and one canoe per team. Entry fees listed for the event include solo at USD 150, two-person at USD 300, three-person at USD 450, and four-person at USD 600.
