Castlewood Adventure Race
The Castlewood Adventure Race is an eight hour, multi-sport off-road event held in the St. Louis area. The exact race course is not marked and is kept secret until race day; a course overview is published closer to the event to assist with gear and food planning.
Teams navigate using a map and compass to find checkpoints while moving across mountain bike trails, rivers by canoe, and on foot. The event combines paddling, biking, and running into a continuous navigation challenge over natural terrain.
Expected discipline distances include:
- Paddling: 5–10 miles
- Biking: 15–20 miles
- On foot: 5–10 miles
Team entries are offered in several configurations, including solo, two-person, three-person, and four-person teams, plus a family category that requires at least two related people with one over 18 and one under 18 and one canoe per team. Participants should plan on four to eight hours of continuous movement through woods, rivers, and roads in the St. Louis area.
The event organizer is Off Road Rage Adventures. Previous races have been capped at 300 participants and reached capacity before the end of October. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
