Event overview
The Donut 8k & Munchkin 1 Miler is a community winter running event on February 28, 2026, held at Ira B. Jones Elementary School, 544 Kimberly Avenue, Asheville, NC. The event is presented by the school’s Family Teacher Organization with race management support. The running event is described as an inaugural winter race through the North Asheville neighborhood. Proceeds will benefit Jones Elementary School programs and initiatives.
Races and logistics
- 8K - chip timed.
- 1 Mile (Munchkin 1 Miler) - chip timed.
- Sprinkle Dash - untimed fun run for children 12 and under.
Packet pickup opens on event day and awards are scheduled after the races. Course maps are provided and noted as subject to change. Registration for the 8K and 1 Mile includes a T-shirt; the Sprinkle Dash registration does not include a shirt. Registration fees vary by race and by registration period. The event has a no-refund policy; if postponed for inclement weather the planned postponement date is April 11, 2026. Transfers to a virtual entry, to another runner, or to a different distance are allowed up to five days before the event using the registration transfer option; after that cutoff participants must contact the event organizer for assistance. Sponsors listed include local businesses such as Blue Ridge Orthodontics, Mark’s Family Dentistry, Bruegger’s Bagels, Anti-Fragile PT, Duck Donuts, and Harris Teeter.
