About the race
Donut 8k & Munchkin 1 Miler is a community running event in Asheville, North Carolina, benefitting Ira B. Jones Elementary School and organized with the Jones Elementary Family Teacher Organization and Kick It Events. The event is scheduled for February 20, 2027, at Ira B. Jones Elementary School, 544 Kimberly Avenue, Asheville, NC 28804.
Distances and event formats include:
- Sprinkle Dash Fun Run - untimed fun run for children 12 and under
- Munchkin 1 Miler - chip timed one mile for families, kids, and walkers
- Donut 8K - chip timed 8 kilometer run; T-shirt included
Registration uses tiered pricing with early bird, winter, and last chance periods. A group discount is available for the 8K when four or more register together in the same transaction; that discount is 15 percent.
Course maps are provided for both the 1 mile and 8K routes. The event's refund and cancellation policy is strict: organizers state there are no refunds and no deferrals. Transfer options are allowed up to five days before the event, including transfers to virtual participation or to another runner or distance; after that cutoff participants must contact the race organizers for assistance. In the case of inclement weather the event may be postponed to April 18, 2027, at the race director's discretion. Organizers indicate they may offer virtual alternatives and will attempt to distribute race items if a cancellation occurs, with shipping costs applied when requested.
