Heatwave Half Marathon - Wichita
The Heatwave Half Marathon takes place at Sedgwick County Park in Wichita, Kansas. This summer event features a variety of distances to accommodate different participants, ranging from short dashes to a full half marathon. The races are held on a course within the park grounds, with professional chip-timing provided for the competitive distances.
Participants can choose from several event options:
- 13.1 Miles (Half Marathon and Half Marathon Relay)
- 10K
- 5K
- 1 Mile (Untimed)
- 50m Kids Dash (Untimed for ages 10 and under)
The Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K races are chip-timed with live results and awards available. The 1 Mile and Kids Dash are held as untimed events. For those interested in team participation, the Half Marathon Relay allows groups of any size to complete the distance together, though each team member must register individually. A virtual option is also available for runners who wish to complete their chosen distance at a different location while still receiving event memorabilia.
Registered participants receive a designer shirt, a custom bib, and a finisher medal. To assist with the summer temperatures, free ice cream is provided at the finish line. Free event photos are also included for all participants.
