The Wichita Mile
The Wichita Mile is a USATF certified road one-mile race series held in Wichita, Kansas. The series includes four seasonal single-mile events and a "4 Seasons Bundle" option that covers all four races.
Races are organized into waves based on runners' estimated pace so athletes compete with others of similar speed. For the Summer event, waves are instead divided by weight classes; entrants choose a weight class during registration and a special award is given to the winner of each weight-class wave.
Events and locations include Sim's Park at 2000 Sim Park Drive; The Independent School Track at 8313 E Douglas Ave; and a Fall route listed as TBD while alternative roads are being considered. Packet pickup for each event is held the Friday before the race at Fartleks, 535 W Douglas Ave, Ste 130, during an afternoon-evening pickup window. Give-away items vary by race and include custom stocking caps for the Winter event and custom socks for the Fall event.
Registration structures are presented as single-event entries and a bundled option. The bundle fee is $100 and individual events are priced at $30. The organizer states there are no refunds for cancellations except for dangerous conditions, government requirement, or similar uncontrollable events; optional cancellation insurance is offered at checkout.
