Dolgellau 5 Mile Road Race
The Dolgellau 5 Mile road race, locally called the "Dol 5", is a summer road event over 5 miles. The course leaves town with a steep climb, then opens out to views before a long downhill return to the finish. The event attracts a mix of faster road runners and slower runners who value a friendly atmosphere.
Entry is available online via Fabian4 with a 120 entry limit. Online fees are £12 for UKA affiliated athletes and £14 for non-affiliated; on-the-day entry is £15/£17. There is no separate fun run this year.
Race HQ is at Dolgellau Rugby Club LL40 1UU where race numbers are available for collection. Number pickup is open from 11:15 to 12:40. The race start is at the bottom of Llanfachreth Road, about a 10-minute walk from Race HQ. Changing rooms are provided but there are no showers; bags are left at owners' risk. Parking is available at Marian Mawr and Glan Wnion Leisure Centre pay car parks; the paybyphone app is accepted.
Water is provided at the finish and may be available on the course in very hot conditions. First aid provision is located at the finish. Prizes are awarded in male and female categories including Under 23 and veteran age bands (Vet 35, 40, 45, etc.), and all finishers receive a memento. Light refreshments are offered and the rugby club bar is open after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
