The Dole 3 Miler
The Dole 3 Miler is an annual three mile road race held in early August in Fryeburg, Maine. The event honors its namesake, a Fryeburg native who ran in the historic first sub four minute mile, and serves as a local summer road-race tradition.
The race is organized by local church groups and has both in-person and virtual participation planned, with registration for those options scheduled for spring 2027. Each year the event includes a fundraising component and maintains a photo and video archive from past editions.
Prizes are offered to top finishers and to selected age and fundraising categories. Prize awards listed by the organizers include $200 for first place female and first place male, $100 for second place female and second place male, $50 for third place female and third place male, $50 for fifth overall, $50 for first in the 80 plus age group, $50 for first in the 12 and under category, and $50 for the top fundraiser. A lead sponsor provides annual support and prize sponsorship.
