Event overview
The Dogwood Ultra Marathons take place March 20-22, 2026, at Twin Lakes State Park, Shelter 1, in Green Bay, VA (788 Twin Lakes Rd). The event is in its 11th year and is run by a veteran-owned organizer. Primitive camping is available at the start area from Thursday through Sunday for a one-time fee. Registration closes March 20, 2026; the last day to register and receive a shirt is February 20. The organizer does not offer refunds but may allow deferrals to next year or transfers to another race. Discounts are available for teachers, law enforcement, nurses, first responders and military personnel.
Course, categories and awards
All events use the same 3.42 mile loop. Each loop has about 400 feet of elevation change and includes a couple of stream crossings. The race operates as a cupless event; runners may leave a cup at the start/finish.
Race options include:
- 48 Hour Solo and Relay
- 24 Hour Solo and Relay
- 12 Hour Solo and Relay
- 10 Mile
- 10 Mile Hiker
- Parent Loop (approx 5k)
- Hiker categories for timed distances
Relay teams may have 3-6 participants; ideal sizes cited are 6 for the 48 hour relay and 4 for 12/24 hour relays. Prizes are given for 1st-3rd place male and female in each distance; only the 1st place relay team receives an award. Finisher awards are given for 50k, 50 mile, 100k, and 100 mile finishes. A belt buckle is awarded for completing 100 miles. Only complete laps count toward distances; required laps for key distances are stated at registration.
