Dogwood Ultra Marathon
Dogwood Ultra Marathon is a multi-day trail event at Twin Lakes State Park in Green Bay, Virginia. It offers several solo and relay options and is chip timed.
Distances available:
- 10 Mile
- 12 hour solo and relay
- 24 hour solo and relay
- 48 hour solo and relay
- 72 hour solo and relay
Registration fees start at $50 for the 10 mile. Other listed fees include $130 for the 12 hour, $175 for the 24 hour, $250 for the 48 hour, and $300 for the 72 hour. Relay teams may include up to four members, with up to six members for the 48 hour relay.
The course is a loop of 3.42 miles with rolling hills and about 400 feet of elevation gain per loop. Runners pass the start area each loop. There are two stream crossings and multiple views of water along the course. The start area includes a pavilion for gear and a playground for families.
Aid is provided at a single start/finish station with rotating hot food, standard ultra foods, water, Tailwind and pop. Vegetarian and gluten free options are available. Runners may set a personal aid station near the start/finish; additional drop bags are not required. Primitive camping is available at the start line; the park also has cabins and a renovated campground. Nearest lodging is in Farmville, about 30 minutes away.
There are no distance cutoffs but a runner must complete a full loop for it to count. Pacers are permitted under specified rules and are not allowed for relay teams. A Parent Loop option allows a family member to complete one loop with a runner and receives a shirt and handmade finishers award. Awards include stained glass for top finishers, gift certificates for the 10 mile, long sleeve shirts for early registrants, and handmade pottery for all runners.
