Dogwood Ultra Marathons - March 18 to 21, 2027
Dogwood Ultra Marathons takes place at Twin Lakes State Park, Shelter 1 in Green Bay, VA. The event uses a 3.42 mile loop course with roughly 400 feet of elevation change per loop and a couple of stream crossings. The loop is rolling in profile and can include wet crossings on some laps.
Available race options include:
- 10 mile
- 12 hour solo
- 12 hour relay (teams of 3-6; ideal size 4)
- 24 hour solo
- 24 hour relay (teams of 3-6; ideal size 4)
- 48 hour solo and 48 hour relay (ideal relay size 6)
- 72 hour runner and 72 hour hiker
- Parent Loop 5k
- Hiker category for multiple distances
Awards and rules are established for finishers and top placers. Prizes are given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place male and female in each distance; only first place relay teams receive awards. Finisher awards are given for completing 50k, 50 miles, 100k, and 100 miles. Runners who complete 100 miles receive a belt buckle. Only complete laps count toward distance thresholds and runners must finish a lap before the time cap for it to count.
Additional event details include cupless aid stations beginning in 2020 with the option to leave a cup at the start/finish, gluten free food selections at aid stations if requested, primitive camping at the start line on Canopy Row from Thursday through Sunday for a flat fee, and a hiker category that awards mileage finishes but does not qualify hikers for podium placement. Certain participant groups may use the code THANKS for a discount. Refunds are not offered; deferral to a future race may be possible.
