Event Details

The Dogwood Ultra Marathons are held every March at Twin Lakes State Park in Green Bay, Virginia. The event offers several formats: a 10 Mile race, 12 Hour, 24 Hour, and 48 Hour solo runs, and relay options for each time domain. The 10-mile and 12-hour options can be run during the day or at night. Relay teams can have up to 4 members, or up to 6 members for the 48-hour event.

The Course

The race uses a loop course where runners pass the start/finish area every 3.42 miles. The trail features rolling hills with approximately 400 feet of elevation gain per loop. There are two stream crossings and numerous views of the water. The start line has a pavilion for runner gear and a playground nearby.

Aid and Logistics

A single aid station at the start/finish provides a full menu of food, including hot items like quesadillas, as well as typical ultra fare, water, and Tailwind. The event is chip-timed. Primitive camping is available at the start line, and the park offers cabins and a campground. Lodging is also available in Farmville, approximately 30 minutes away.

Additional Information

A "Parent Loop" option allows a family member to complete one loop with a registered runner for an extra fee, which includes a shirt and handmade award. There are no distance cutoffs, but runners must complete a full final loop for it to count. Pacers are permitted for solo runners after specified hours. Discounts are offered for military, fire, law enforcement, medical, and educational professionals.

All runners receive a handmade pottery finisher's award. The top three male and female finishers in each distance receive unique stained glass awards (10-mile finishers receive gift certificates). Registrants by a specified date receive a long sleeve shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
