Dogwood Ultra Marathons
The Dogwood Ultra Marathons take place at Twin Lakes State Park in Green Bay, Virginia. The event uses a single 3.42 mile loop with about 400 feet of elevation gain per loop. The loop includes two stream crossings and multiple views of the water. Runners pass the start area every 3.42 miles. The race is chip timed.
Distances and entry formats include:
- 10 Mile
- 12 Hour solo or relay
- 24 Hour solo or relay
- 48 Hour solo or relay
- Parent Loop 5k and hiker categories
Relay teams may include three to six members; the 48 hour relay commonly fields six while 12 and 24 hour relays commonly field four. Relay teams may be same gender or mixed. Pacers are allowed for eligible solo runners under the event pacing rules; pacers are not permitted for relay teams. Runners must complete full laps for any distance to count; partial laps are not accepted.
There is a single aid station at the start/finish offering rotating hot food items including hot dogs and quesadillas, typical ultra foods such as chips, fruit, PB&J, pretzels and candy, plus water, Tailwind and soda. Vegetarian and gluten free options are available. Runners may set up a personal aid area near the start/finish. Primitive camping is offered at the start line. Registration fees range from $50 for the 10 Mile to higher fees for extended solo and relay options. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
