Dog Days of Summer Half Marathon
Dog Days of Summer takes place at Alamitos Beach, 780 East Shoreline Ave, Long Beach, CA. The event schedules several running distances along the beach path and includes a dog-oriented one-mile dash and a nonprofit partner presence.
The event offers these distances:
- 5K
- 10K
- 10 Mile
- Half Marathon (13.1 Miles)
- Doggie Dash 1 Mile
The course is out-and-back on an open beach path shared with other users. The 5K route is used for the 5K and 10K (one and two laps), the 5-mile route is used for the 10-mile (two laps), and the half marathon combines the 5-mile route twice plus the 5K route once. Runners will encounter mixed path traffic; the right side is designated for pedestrians and the left side for cyclists. Turns are marked with chalk, a runner turn sign, and a flag.
On-course support includes a water station at Belmont Pier and a finish-area aid station stocked with water, gatorade, gels, and fruit snacks. First aid kits are at each station and crew members have received CPR training. Bibs should be worn on the front. Gear check is available at the registration tent; participants should bring their own bag. All finishers receive a race medal and overall first-place male and female medals are awarded for each distance. Race results and photos are shared after the event.
