Event overview
The Dog Days of Summer 5k & 10k takes place on September 5, 2026 at the WARF (Warrenton Aquatic and Recreation Facility), 800 Waterloo Rd., Warrenton, VA. The event offers both 5k and 10k distances. Points from this race count toward the 5k, 10k, Back of the Pack Series and the Summer Series. A virtual race option is available. Strollers and walkers are welcome. The event is chip timed and runners receive a finisher’s medal and a technical event shirt.
Course, logistics and services
The course uses a paved path with several hills; the 5k is an out-and-back route. Water and aid are provided: seven water stations are placed along the 10k at approximately mile markers 1, 1.55, 2.55, 3.1, 4.1, 4.65, and 5.65, and three stations are on the 5k at about miles 1, 1.55, and 2.55. Gatorade is available at some stations. Restrooms are located inside the WARF. Packet pickup is available at the event and race-day registration is offered; organizers recommend arriving about one hour before the race to check in. T-shirts are guaranteed to runners who register before August 26. Registration fees listed in the event materials are: 5k $30 until August 15, then $35; 10k $45 until August 15, then $50. Live race results are posted online with final results and series points released after the event. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to age-group places listed in the event details. Photos taken by staff are posted after the event.
