Event overview
The Dog Days of Summer features two distances:
- 5k
- 10k
The event takes place at the WARF (Warrenton Aquatic & Recreation Facility), 800 Waterloo Rd., Warrenton, VA. Points from this event count toward the 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack Series, and toward the Summer Series. A virtual race option is offered. The event is chip timed. Registered participants receive a finisher’s medal and a technical (Drifit) event shirt; shirts are guaranteed for registrations completed before Aug 26.
Course and logistics
The course runs on a paved path with several hills. The 5k is an out-and-back route. The 10k includes seven water stations at approximately mile markers 1, 1.55, 2.55, 3.1, 4.1, 4.65, and 5.65; the 5k has three water stations at approximately mile markers 1, 1.55, and 2.55. Gatorade is available at some water stations. Restrooms are located inside the WARF. Packet pickup is available at the event and there is race day registration.
Results, awards and other details
Live results will be posted online and final results with series points are published the Monday after the race. The top three men and women overall receive awards. Additional awards are given to 1st and 2nd place male and female in these age groups: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Top three overall finishers are not eligible for age-group awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
