Dog Days of Summer
Dog Days of Summer is a community running event held at Dawson Park at Lake McIntosh in Longmont, Colorado on August 8, 2026. The main race is a 3.5 mile loop that circles the lake. The course surface is approximately half paved and half dirt and passes mountain views, farmlands, and aquatic wildlife.
A separate Kidz Dash of 1K is offered for younger participants. Participants gather at Dawson Neighborhood Park near the pirate ship playground, where vendors, music, and games will be available.
Registration details published for each event include opening and closing dates and an entry fee. The 3.5 mile loop lists a registration fee of $35.00 and the Kidz Dash lists a registration fee of $20.00. Registration windows differ by event.
Organizers have a partnership with the Longmont Humane Society. An optional Wag Wave in registration adds a donation to support animals sheltered at the humane society, and a portion of event proceeds will also be donated to the shelter. Dogs are encouraged to participate.
