Dizzy Fifties at Monte Sano State Park
Dizzy Fifties is a trail race organized by the Huntsville Track Club at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, AL. The event offers three distance options on a repeated "big" loop that measures about 10 miles and about 1,000 ft of climbing per loop.
Distances
- 50K (3 loops; about 3,000 ft total climbing)
- 20 Mile (2 loops)
- 10 Mile (1 loop)
All distances follow the same figure 8 style loop. The first half of the loop uses the South Plateau Loop, Firetower and the Family Bike Trail. Around 6.4 miles the course passes near the pavilion aid station. The second half descends off the plateau, goes through Logan-Keith, includes the climb up Sinks, and returns to the pavilion. Runners must check in at the arch after completing each 10-mile loop for lap credit.
The race is cupless; participants receive a reusable cup. There is one fully stocked pavilion aid station with water, sodas, and a mix of sweet and salty options. Personal aid may be set up on pavilion picnic tables. Aid opportunities: 50K five, 20 Mile three, 10 Mile one. Medical support is provided by HEMSI.
Logistics include a field cap of 200 runners and limited parking; a parking pass is provided with preregistration materials. Distance-change deadline is Tuesday, November 17; no race-day distance switches and no drop-down finishes. Bibs must be worn on the front and visible at the arch; bib transfers are not allowed. Bicycles, strollers, pets, roller skates, and skateboards are prohibited. Use of headphones is strongly discouraged because the course is not closed. Registration opens July 1, 2026, and registering by October 16, 2026 guarantees a shirt size. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
