District Ekiden
The District Ekiden is a four-person club relay rooted in the heritage of Japanese road racing. The event features clubs from the District and the surrounding region and is described as an intersection of running, community, and life in the District.
The race takes place in Washington, DC at 355 Water Street SE on August 14, 2026. Each team may include up to four members; clubs may enter multiple teams, and each team has a captain and a unique team name. The course is four laps of 2.8 miles each for a total distance of 11.2 miles. The field is limited to 125 teams.
Registration opens May 28, 2026 and closes August 10, 2026. The registration fee is $50. Organizers provide instructions titled "How To TEAMS" with details for team creation and entry. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
