About the race
The 2027 District Dash 5k & Half is a two-distance running event held along the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal path with separate start and finish locations in Georgetown and at Fletcher’s Boathouse. Points from the races count toward the Year-Long 5k, Endurance, Back of the Pack Series, and the Winter Series.
Distances
- Half Marathon Out-and-back on the C&O Canal path starting and ending in Georgetown near the Potomac Boat Club.
- 5K Out-and-back on the C&O Canal path starting and ending at Fletcher’s Boathouse.
Both courses use a light gravel trail with minimal elevation change. The half marathon has a 3 hour 15 minute completion time limit. Walkers and strollers are welcome. Water stations are located along the half marathon at approximately miles 1.55, 3.8, 4.3, 6.55, 8.8, 9.3 and 11.55; the 5K has one water station near mile 1.55. Gatorade is available at some stations.
Runners receive a finisher medal, a technical event shirt, and chip timing. Live results are posted on Athlinks and via a race day QR code; final results with series points are posted the Monday after the race. Packet pickup is available at the event and there is no on-site race registration. There is no official bag check. The event supports the Purple Heart Foundation.
