Dirty Wookie 10K & 5K
The Dirty Wookie is a Halloween themed running event in downtown Reno that offers two marked, timed, and supported courses. The event includes a Finish Line Festival at the end and a costume contest near the podiums; eligible participants must be registered for the 2026 race and all ages may enter. The costume contest winners are chosen by crowd vote.
Distances:
- 10K: Point-to-point course from Reno Running Company Lakeside to J Resort Festival Grounds.
- 5K: Out and back loop starting and finishing at J Resort Festival Grounds through Idlewild Park.
The 10K is Reno’s only point-to-point 10K and runs through Virginia Lake, West Reno neighborhoods, and Idlewild Park before finishing at J Resort’s Festival Grounds. Runners and walkers may register for the 10K but should note a two hour course cut off, equivalent to a 19:21 per mile pace. The organizer offers a shuttle to transport participants to the 10K start for a fee; there is no shuttle service back to the 10K start after the race. The 5K follows a scenic path through Idlewild Park and begins and ends at the festival area. Both courses are professionally supported and timed, and walkers are welcome on both distances.
