Dirty Wookie 10K & 5K
The Dirty Wookie is a Halloween themed running event held Saturday, October 24, 2026, in downtown Reno. The event includes two distances and professionally marked, timed, and supported courses.
- 10 km point-to-point course
- 5 km scenic out-and-back through Idlewild Park
The 10K starts at Reno Running Company – Lakeside and travels through Virginia Lake, West Reno neighborhoods, and Idlewild Park before finishing at J Resort Festival Grounds in downtown Reno. The 5K starts and finishes at J Resort Festival Grounds and follows paths through Idlewild Park.
Participants receive a unique finisher’s medal, a race bib with chip timing, and free race photos by Jared Emerson Photography. There is an awards ceremony and a finish line party with music and a variety of vendors at the J Resort Festival Grounds. A complimentary beer is available, one per person for those 21 and over with valid ID.
Shuttle service to the 10K start is available from J Resort Festival Grounds for a non refundable $10 ticket; a limited number of tickets are offered and no shuttle service returns participants to the 10K start after the race. Participants must finish within two hours or move to the sidewalk as streets will no longer be closed.
A costume contest features a parade of eligible participants and crowd voting for prizes. The top three female, male, and non binary finishers overall and the top three in each age group will receive awards; age groups are 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus.
