About the race
The Dirty Wookie 10K & 5K is a Halloween-themed running event in downtown Reno that offers two marked and timed courses and a finish line festival at J Resort’s Festival Grounds.
Distances:
- 10K point-to-point course from Reno Running Company – LAKESIDE to J Resort
- 5K scenic out-and-back loop through Idlewild Park
The 10K, new to 2026, starts at Reno Running Company – LAKESIDE and passes Virginia Lake, West Reno neighborhoods, and Idlewild Park before finishing at J Resort’s Festival Grounds. Parking at the 10K start is extremely limited; participants are advised to use parking at J Resort and may purchase a shuttle ticket ($10) to the 10K start. No shuttle service returns to the 10K start after the race. Walkers may register for the 10K but the course has a two hour cutoff (19:21 per mile pace).
The 5K starts and finishes at J Resort’s Festival Grounds and follows a colorful out-and-back route through Idlewild Park. Walkers are welcome to join the 5K.
A costume contest near the podiums showcases registered 2026 participants; eligible entrants are paraded and the crowd votes for a winner. Both courses are professionally marked, timed, and supported. A Finish Line Festival takes place at the finish area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
