Dirty Wookie 10K & 5K
The Dirty Wookie is a Halloween themed running event held in downtown Reno with two course options. The event offers both a 10K and a 5K route and includes a post-race finish line festival on J Resort’s Festival Grounds.
The 10K is a new point-to-point course for 2026. It starts at Reno Running Company – Lakeside, passes Virginia Lake and West Reno neighborhoods, goes by Idlewild Park, and finishes at J Resort’s Festival Grounds. Participants are encouraged to park at the J Resort and may purchase a shuttle ticket ($10) to travel to the 10K start. No shuttle service is provided back to the 10K start after the race. Walkers may register for the 10K but should be aware of the two hour course cutoff, equivalent to a 19:21 per mile pace.
The 5K starts and finishes at J Resort’s Festival Grounds and follows a scenic out-and-back route through Idlewild Park. A costume contest takes place near the podiums and is open to registered 2026 participants. Both courses are professionally marked, timed, and supported, with event staff and race services available along the routes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
