Event
Devil After Dark is a late summer evening road race held on September 19, 2026, near Las Vegas, Nevada. The event includes the following distances:
- Marathon
- 1/2 Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
All race distances include a technical shirt, a finishers' medal, post-race food, and eligibility for overall and age-group awards. Awards are given to overall male and female winners (top three) and to age-group winners in 10-year increments; youth age groups apply for the 10K and 5K. Overall and age-group awards are determined by gun time.
Course and logistics
The course runs along Lovell Canyon Road at the Highway 160 junction in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The start area is at roughly 4,500 feet elevation and features high desert vegetation such as Joshua trees, pinion-juniper, mountain rose, and sagebrush. Daytime temperatures can reach about 85-90 degrees with overnight lows near 65, and the canyon is generally about 10 degrees cooler than the Las Vegas Valley.
The road course is paved, twisting and rolling, and is well marked. The course is unlit; runners on the course after nightfall are required to wear reflective gear front and back and to use a headlamp or carry a flashlight. Aid stations are placed at multiple mile markers, with toilet facilities at selected stations. Parking is at or near the start/finish area; camping at the venue is primitive with no facilities.
