Event Overview
Devil After Dark is a late summer running event located in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area within the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The race takes place along Lovell Canyon Road at Highway 160, situated near Las Vegas. The event is conducted under a special use permit and focuses on providing a night running experience as the sun sets and the moon rises over the desert landscape.
Participants run through Lovell Canyon, where the environment features Pinion Juniper trees and views of the surrounding canyon walls. While the lights of Las Vegas are located nearby, the immediate course is illuminated by stars and moonlight. The event transition from late afternoon to night allows runners to observe the sunset before finishing under the night sky.
The following distances are available for participants:
- Marathon (26.2 Miles)
- Half Marathon (13.1 Miles)
- 10K
- 5K
The course utilizes paved roads within the canyon area. Because the event occurs during the evening and night hours, the natural light from the moon and stars provides the primary visibility for the surrounding terrain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
