Deveron Harrier's Festival of Running
The Deveron Harrier's Festival of Running offers a selection of distances along the River Deveron in Aberdeenshire. The event includes road and trail sections, featuring views of the local countryside and historic landmarks. Participants can choose from the following distances:
- Half Marathon (multi-terrain)
- 10 km (multi-terrain)
- 5 km (trail run)
- 1 km (junior fun run)
The Half Marathon begins in Turriff and follows the River Deveron toward Banff. The route primarily uses quiet roads along the national cycle route. The 10 km race begins at Castle Eden and follows the same path as the half marathon. Both of these longer distances transition into woodland trails in the latter section of the course, crossing the Bridge of Alvah and passing through the historic Duff House grounds, including the Ice House and Mausoleum.
The 5 km distance is a trail run held entirely within the grounds of Duff House. The 1 km junior fun run takes place on the rugby pitches and within the surrounding woods.
Registration and the finish line for all events are located at the Duff House Rugby Club Pavilion. For the point-to-point races, bus transportation is provided from the registration area to the starting locations. The course includes mile markers, water stations, and marshal supervision. Music devices are permitted, though headphones must be removed at road crossings. All finishers receive a medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
