The run honors Detective Michael "Mike" Doty, who served in York County for 12 years and worked in drug enforcement, a Narcan program for the sheriff’s office, and with local explorer and SWAT support roles. He was shot while on duty in January 2018 and died shortly after the incident.
Proceeds from the event are designated to benefit Keystone Substance Abuse Services. Keystone is a private not for profit organization established in 1969 that serves as the Act 301 substance abuse authority in York County, offering nationally accredited and licensed services including education, prevention, and outpatient and inpatient treatment for individuals and families affected by alcohol and drug related problems.
