Event information
The Desert Leprechaun 5K & 1 Mile Run/Walk takes place on March 15, 2026 in downtown Tucson, centered around Armory Park and the Children's Museum. The event is held in conjunction with the Tucson St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival and donates a portion of proceeds to the Children of Fallen Officers Scholarship Fund. Distances offered:

Course, awards and logistics
The courses are described as flat and fast: a three-loop course for the 5K and a one-loop course for the 1 mile. The 5K will be USATF certified and eligible for state age group records. 5K awards include male and female Top 3 Overall, Top Masters, and Top 3 in five-year age groups up to 80+. Awards include The Running Shop gift certificates and St. Patrick's Day themed items. 5K registrants receive a custom finisher medal and a race shirt while supplies last; there are St. Patrick's Day goodies for finishers. All finishers aged 21 and over may claim one free beer at the festival by showing ID and using the tear-off on the bib as a ticket. The male and female winners of the 5K will ride in the parade in a special vehicle. Packet pickup is available the day before at The Running Shop and on race day at the event site. Parking is advised outside the loop course; recommended areas are north of Broadway Blvd, east of 4th Ave, south of 16th St, or west of Stone Ave. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
