Event information
The Desert Leprechaun 5K & 1 Mile Run/Walk is scheduled for March 15, 2026, in downtown Tucson, centered around Armory Park and the Children's Museum. The date and location are subject to change depending on the final plans of the Tucson St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival. The event is produced by the Southern Arizona Roadrunners and takes place on the morning of the festival.

The courses run along the Tucson St. Patrick's Day Parade route and are described as fast and flat. The 5K uses a three-loop layout while the 1 mile is a single loop. The 5K will be USATF certified and eligible for state age group records.
Race entry includes event-specific items for 5K participants such as a custom finisher medal and a race shirt while supplies last. All finishers aged 21 and over may claim one complimentary beer at the festival by presenting the tear-off on their bib and valid ID. Awards for the 5K include male and female Top 3 Overall, Top Masters, and Top 3 in five-year age groups up to 80+. The male and female winners of the 5K will each ride in the St. Patrick's Day parade in a special vehicle. A portion of event proceeds will benefit the Children of Fallen Officers Scholarship Fund.
