Derwent Reservoir Triathlons & Duathlons
The Derwent Reservoir Triathlons and Duathlons are scheduled for Sunday 4 July 2027 on the south side of Derwent Reservoir near Consett, County Durham. The event takes place on the Durham/Northumberland border and is organised by Wild Deer Events in partnership with Castle Triathlon Club and Northumbrian Water.
The programme includes Sprint and Standard triathlon, Sprint and Standard duathlon, and Sprint and Standard Aquabike events, with relay options and no cut-off times.
Event distances
- Sprint Triathlon: Swim 750m, Cycle 22km, Run 5km
- Standard Triathlon: Swim 1,500m, Cycle 39km, Run 10km
- Sprint Duathlon: Run 5km, Cycle 22km, Run 2.5km
- Standard Duathlon: Run 10km, Cycle 39km, Run 5km
- Sprint Aquabike: Swim 750m, Cycle 22km
- Standard Aquabike: Swim 1,500m, Cycle 39km
Venue and routes feature clear, calm open water for swimming, quiet country lanes for cycling, and scenic paths and trails with gentle undulations for running. Wetsuits are expected to be optional; they are recommended for comfort and buoyancy, especially for less experienced open water swimmers.
The transition area is secure and for competitors only. Race and bike numbers must match racking numbers, helmets must be worn before entering the bike area, and numbers will be checked when exiting. Live chip timing will be provided by Timing Up North.
All finishers receive a Derwent Triathlon medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and a snack and drink. A commemorative event T-shirt is available for £14. Parking is available at Derwent Waterside Park at £3 per vehicle, with a ten to fifteen minute walk to the event area. Entry fees range from £35 to £67 depending on the event.
