Derwent Reservoir Triathlons - 12 July 2026
Derwent Reservoir Triathlons take place on 12 July 2026 at the south side of Derwent Reservoir near Consett, County Durham. The reservoir lies on the Durham/Northumberland border and is owned by Northumbrian Water.
The event uses open-water swims in calm reservoir water, cycling on quiet country lanes, and running on relatively flat paths and trails. No cut-off times are stated and relay entries are available for the events.
- Sprint Triathlon: Swim 750m, Cycle 22km, Run 5km
- Standard Triathlon: Swim 1,500m, Cycle 39km, Run 10km
- Sprint Aquabike: Swim 750m, Cycle 22km
- Standard Aquabike: Swim 1,500m, Cycle 39km
- Relay options for sprint and standard events
Wetsuits are expected to be optional depending on water temperature; they are recommended for comfort and buoyancy, particularly for less experienced swimmers.
The transition area is secure and for competitors only. Race number and bike number must match the racking number. Small bags or boxes are allowed. Helmets must be worn and the bike number attached before entering transition; bike and bib numbers will be checked before exiting.
Live chip-timing is provided by Timing Up North. All finishers receive a Derwent Triathlon medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and a snack and drink. A commemorative T-shirt is available for £12. Parking at Derwent Waterside Park is charged at £3 per vehicle and requires a 10 to 15 minute walk to the event area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
