Event Overview
MoRun Derby is a community-focused running event held at Markeaton Park in support of the Movember charity. The event aims to raise awareness for men's health issues, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. Participants are encouraged to take part in fancy dress, with special recognitions available for various categories such as the best-dressed runners or those with notable mustaches.
The event features a variety of distances to accommodate different participants:
- 1.5 km Mini MoRun (for children)
- 5 km
- 10 km
- Half Marathon
Course and Facilities
The running route consists of a mix of paths and trail surfaces and is described as undulating. The 5 km distance follows a single lap, the 10 km involves two laps, and the Half Marathon includes an initial 1.1 km loop followed by four full laps of the course. The routes are dog-friendly and suitable for participants using buggies or wheelchairs.
On-site facilities include a supervised bag storage area near the registration tents and toilets located within the event hub. While a manned bag storage gazebo is provided, space is limited. The event is fully chip-timed, providing runners with both gun times and net times immediately upon crossing the finish line.
Participant Information
All registered runners receive a unique MoRun medal and a branded MoRun headband. At the finish line, drinks and snacks such as water and sweets are provided. Registration takes place near the main car park, where participants collect their race numbers, timing chips, and safety pins. Parking is available at the main Markeaton Park car park off the A38/A52 roundabout or the Mundy Play Centre car park, with standard parking charges applying.
