Event Information

The Matlock Skyline Challenge is a circular running and walking event that starts and finishes in Matlock. It is organised as a fundraiser for Derby Mountain Rescue Team.

Route Details

The event offers two circular, unmarked routes. Participants must possess navigation skills or pair with someone who can navigate.

  • Short route: 17 km or 11 miles, mainly off-road.
  • Long route: 35 km or 22 miles, covering the full Matlock Skyline.

The event is run in partnership with Ordnance Survey, and route maps are available on OS Maps.

Course Features

The scenic routes pass through various landscapes including villages, stone-walled meadows, moorland, woodland, and a castle.
