Matlock Skyline Challenge

The Matlock Skyline Challenge on Sunday, 5 July 2026 starts and finishes in Matlock and is organised by Derby Mountain Rescue Team in partnership with Ordnance Survey.

The event offers two route options:

  • 17 km / 11 miles scenic off-road route on high ground, walking or running.
  • 35 km / 22 miles full Matlock Skyline taking in more surrounding high ground.

Both routes are available to view on Ordnance Survey maps. The course is unmarked and requires navigation; participants must be able to navigate or team up with someone who can.

The event raises funds for Derby Mountain Rescue Team. The route passes villages, stone-walled meadows, moorland, woodland and a castle. Finishers receive a certificate.
