Matlock Skyline Challenge for Derby MRT

The Matlock Skyline Challenge is a fundraising event for Derby Mountain Rescue Team, held in Matlock with Hall Leys Park listed as the location (DE4 3AR). The event is organised in partnership with Ordnance Survey and this edition is the third year of the event.

Participants choose between two route options. The courses are unmarked so participants need basic navigation skills or should enter with someone who can navigate. Participants may walk or run, alone or in a group. Under 18s may take part only when accompanied by an over 18; if one person in a pair must retire, the other must retire too.

Key route details:

  • 35 km (22 mile) circular, mainly off road, about 1000 metres ascent
  • 17 km (11 mile) Half Skyline, about 500 metres ascent

Entries are handled through a pre-entry system. Entries open 6 January 2026 and close 1 July 2026. The published entry fee is £30. The event route includes villages, stone walled meadows, moorland, woodland and a castle. A finishers certificate is provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
