Black Rocks Fell Race
The Black Rocks Fell Race is an event organized by the Matlock Athletic Club. The course covers a distance of 9.9 km (6.1 miles) and features a total ascent of 250 m (820 ft). The route is set mostly on good trails and is clearly marked for participants.
The race begins at Matlock Rugby Club in Cromford Meadows. From the start, runners follow the canal towpath to High Peak Junction. At this point, the course turns right to begin a climb that passes Black Rocks and continues toward the Trig Point on Cromford Moor. After reaching this high point, participants turn back and return to High Peak Junction. The final section of the race leads back along the canal towpath to the finish line located in Cromford Meadows.
Participation is limited to a maximum of 300 runners, and the minimum age for entry is 16 years. Registration must be completed online and in advance; there are no entries available on the day of the event. The registration period for the race closes the night before the scheduled date.
