Black Rocks Fell Race
The Black Rocks Fell Race is organised by Matlock Athletic Club and is run from Cromford Meadows, with the start location at Matlock Rugby Club, Cromford Meadows, near Matlock. The course covers 9.9 km / 6.1 miles, mostly on good trails, and includes a mid-race climb past Black Rocks with a total ascent of about 800 feet (around 250 m).
The route follows the canal tow path from Cromford Meadows to High Peak Junction, where it turns right and begins the climb that finishes at the Trig Point on Cromford Moor above Black Rocks. Runners return by the same general route to High Peak Junction and then along the canal tow path back to the finish in Cromford Meadows. The course is marked.
Entries are by online advance registration with payment at the time of registration; there are no entries on the day. The entry fee is £6.50 and registration closes at 23:00 on 7 July 2026. The event has a race limit of 300 and a minimum age of 16 years. Results for previous editions are recorded and available for reference.
