Defuniak Springs Sprint Triathlon
The Defuniak Springs Sprint Triathlon is held in the historic district of Defuniak Springs, located in the Florida panhandle. The event reached its sixth year in 2026 and utilizes a course that highlights the natural and architectural features of the region. This multi-sport event supports local non-profit organizations through its proceeds.
The race consists of three consecutive segments:
- 600 meter swim in a circular lake
- 16 mile bike ride through the Eucheeanna Valley
- 5k run on a flat course
The swimming portion takes place in one of only two naturally occurring circular lakes in the world, where the use of wetsuits is permitted. Following the swim, participants transition to a cycling portion that features rolling hills. The final stage is a foot race that passes several historic homes within the city. After the competition, a gathering is held at the Last Stop Beer Vault, where food and beverages are provided for those who participated.
