Event overview
The Deer Creek Half Marathon is a trail half marathon held in Midway, Utah. The race starts and finishes at the Soldier Hollow Campground Group Pavilion and follows trails along Deer Creek Reservoir. The distance is 13.1 miles with a total elevation gain of +970 ft. The event has a runner cap of 225 and no cutoff time. Registration phases and fees are listed: early, normal, and late pricing; late registration begins June 11 and closes July 10 at 11:59 pm. Packet pickup is available the Friday before the race at the Salt Lake Running Company store and there is race-day packet pickup. Free parking is provided around the pavilion.
Course, aid, and amenities
The course is about 95% packed dirt trail and 5% dirt single track. Runners reach the Provo Jordan River Parkway Trail in the first half mile and run roughly 6 miles along the reservoir before a turnaround. Split segments are provided with distances and elevation changes; aid stations are approximately 4.3 miles apart. Aid stations supply Tailwind, water, Honey Stinger gels and waffles, fruit, and other snacks. Navigation is marked with pink flags, ribbons, signs, and trail marshals. Participants receive a race shirt and a custom locally made finisher medal. Post-race food includes bread items, chocolate milk, orange juice, and bananas.
