Deception Pass Half Marathon & 10K
Trail races held at Deception Pass State Park near Oak Harbor, Washington, on rugged coastline with steep cliffs, dense forest and coastal bluffs. Distances offered:
- 13.1 miles
- 10K
- The Double 19.3 miles total for those who run both races
The half marathon crosses Deception Pass Bridge twice; the bridge sits about 180 feet above the water. Courses run from sea level up onto bluffs, follow mostly single track trails and include rocky and rooty sections, narrow and twisty stretches, and some short steep hills. Both races start and finish at the East Cranberry Lake Picnic Area and follow a paved approach before moving onto trails. Courses are marked with yellow and black arrows and pink and black ribbons.
Aid stations supply water, electrolyte drink, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fruit, chips, pickles, cookies or candy, and a variety of gels. The half has three aid stations and the 10K has one; drop bags are allowed at the Bowman Bay aid station for the half but not for the 10K. There are cutoffs at aid stations and course sweeps will remove markings after cutoff.
Parking requires a Washington Discover Pass and there is no overnight parking at the start finish lot. Registration closes April 1, 2027 at 9 00 PM GMT-7. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
