Deception Pass 50K Fall
The Deception Pass 50K Fall takes place in Deception Pass State Park, located near Oak Harbor, Washington. The park features a dramatic water channel separating Whidbey and Fidalgo Islands in the northern Puget Sound. The course consists primarily of single track trails that navigate a rugged coastline, steep cliffs, and dense forests. While the route does not include long mountain climbs, the terrain includes technical footing with rocks, roots, narrow paths, and steep grades.
Participants cross the historic Deception Pass Bridge twice, running approximately 180 feet above the water. At other points, the course reaches sea level or traverses high bluffs and hills. The highest point of the route is Goose Rock. The event offers multiple distances:
- 50 km
- 25 km
- 1 km Fun Run
The 50 km distance includes approximately 4,300 feet of elevation gain and loss, with four aid stations available along the route. The 25 km distance features 3,000 feet of elevation gain and loss with one aid station. Aid stations are stocked with water, electrolyte drinks, fruit, sandwiches, and various snacks.
The event permits leashed, well behaved dogs. Runners must display a Discover Pass on their vehicle dashboard to park within the state park. Accommodations such as camping are available at the Quarry Campground inside the park, and hotel lodging can be found in nearby Anacortes or Oak Harbor.
