Deception Pass 50K and 25K Fall
The event takes place at Deception Pass State Park near Oak Harbor, Washington, and uses trails that run along Cranberry Lake, North Beach, bluffs, and coastal forest. Both the 50K and 25K courses start at the West Point Amphitheater, include single track trails that are often rocky or rooty, and cross the Deception Pass Bridge twice.
Course characteristics include variable elevation with hills that are relatively short but can be steep, technical footing, narrow and twisty trail sections, and marked junctions with arrow signs and frequent confidence ribbons. The 50K includes two lollipop shaped loops in the Hoypus area after the high point at Goose Rock. The kids 1K Fun Run follows a short loop partly through Cranberry Lake Campground and partly on North Beach.
Aid stations supply water, electrolyte drink, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fresh fruit, chips, pickles, cookies or candy, some gels, and basic first aid and feminine hygiene supplies. Drop bags are allowed at specified aid stations and at the finish area. Crew support is permitted only at aid stations and must stay clear of aid station tents and tables.
Parking requires a Discover Pass displayed on the vehicle dash. No overnight parking or camping is allowed at the West Beach parking lot start area. Quarry Campground provides park camping during the event period. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
