Deception Pass 50K Fall
Deception Pass races take place in Deception Pass State Park near Oak Harbor, Washington on November 7 and November 8. The event uses trails that run along shorelines, bluffs, and forested sections and crosses the Deception Pass Bridge twice, which sits about 180 feet above the water.
- 50K: 4,300 ft elevation gain and loss, 4 aid stations.
- 25K: 3,000 ft elevation gain and loss, 1 aid station.
- 1K Fun Run: short loop for kids, minimal elevation.
Both main courses start from the West Point Amphitheater and follow park roads briefly before moving onto mostly single track. Trails vary from smooth sections to rocky and rooty stretches; hills are relatively short but can be steep. The 50K includes two lollipop-shaped loops in the Hoypus area and repeats the course around Goose Rock.
Aid stations are stocked with water, electrolyte drink, sandwiches, fruit, snacks, gels, first aid supplies, and feminine hygiene products. Drop bags are allowed at Bowman Bay for both races and at Cornet for the 50K. Well behaved leashed dogs are welcome on course.
Parking requires a Discover Pass and no overnight parking is allowed at the start/finish lot. Quarry Campground is available for park camping while Cranberry Lake Campground is closed for the season.
