Death By a Mile

Death By a Mile is a timed loop running event held in October 2026 at Skeetawk Ski Area in Palmer, AK. The format asks participants to run as many roughly one mile hill loops as they can within a chosen session duration. The event takes place at 13500 N Skeetawk Cir, Mile 10.6 Palmer-Fishhook Rd, Palmer, AK 99645.

The course begins at the start tent in the Skeetawk parking lot, follows the Altitude gravel path (0.39 miles) to the Meadow Loop trail entrance (0.54 miles), then completes one full Meadow Loop before returning down Altitude to the start tent for lap counting. Runners may choose the Meadow Loop direction, clockwise or counter clockwise.

Aid provisions include water, electrolytes, and aid station snacks. Participants are asked to bring personal food and gear. The Skeetawk Yurt will be open for warmth and will offer coffee and other drinks for purchase.

Operational rules state that laps are not individually timed and only the total number of completed laps per time division determines placements. Minors aged 12 to 17 may compete with a parent or guardian on site. Children under 12 may use the Kid Loop with a parent running alongside.
