Deam Lake Loop Trail Run
The event takes place at Deam Lake State Recreation Area in Borden, Indiana on October 3, 2026. The program offers both running and walk or hike options on the Deam Lake Loop trail with 5K and 10K distances.
- 5K run and 5K walk/hike
- 10K run and 10K walk/hike
Both courses start near the Park Office and Forest Education Center and follow the Deam Lake Loop counter-clockwise. The 10K follows the full loop with one road crossing near mile 0.9, several small creek crossings, and several gradual to steep climbs. The 5K follows the southern loop to the Knobstone Trail intersection near mile 1.8, crosses atop the dam, and finishes via trailhead parking areas and Deam Lake Road to the Forest Education Center. One lane will be closed on the road sections and traffic guards will be in place.
Sustainability measures include a cupless race format and a reusable HydraPak SpeedCup provided at packet pickup for use at the aid station. One aid station is planned for the 10K around mile 3.4, plus an aid station at the finish. Shirt giveaways are optional for a reduced registration fee. Custom laser engraved wooden finisher medals will be distributed.
Packet pickup is scheduled at the Forest Education Center the day before and the morning of the event. Parking is available at the Forest Education Center with overflow parking at the gravel lot by the boat ramp 500 ft north. The trail is multi use and may include horseback riders and cyclists; participants are asked to communicate with riders if horses are encountered.
Early bird registration pricing of $25 applies for registrations completed before April 1, 2026. Registration opens January 1, 2026 and closes March 31, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
