Deam Lake Loop Trail Run
The Deam Lake Loop Trail Run takes place on October 3, 2026 at Deam Lake State Recreation Area in Borden, Indiana. The event offers trail race and walk/hike options on the Deam Lake Loop trail, with two course distances.
The courses start and finish at the Forest Education Center and Park Office. The 10K follows the eastern section of the loop counter-clockwise, includes several gradual to steep climbs, small creek crossings, and one road crossing at about mile 0.9; it is rated as "moderately challenging." The 5K follows the southern border of the property counter-clockwise, turns onto the Knobstone Trail near mile 1.80, crosses the dam, and finishes at the Forest Education Center after roughly 0.5 miles on park roads. One lane may be closed on the final 5K road segment; runners should monitor traffic at crossings.
This is a cupless event in partnership with HydraPak. Participants receive a reusable HydraPak SpeedCup at packet pickup for aid station use. One aid station is planned for the 10K at mile 3.4 with water and a sports drink, and an aid station will be available at the finish.
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the race and on race day. Parking is primarily at the Forest Education Center with overflow at the gravel lot by the boat ramp 500 feet north. Shirts are optional for an additional fee; custom laser-engraved wooden finisher medals are provided. Group training runs are offered on August 23, September 3, and September 20 with 2, 4, and 6 mile options; meet at the Forest Education Center and show proof of registration for free entry. Staff and volunteers will monitor course safety and signage. In case of encountering horses on the shared trail, participants should stop or slow, communicate with the rider, and follow the rider's guidance before passing.
