Deal's Orchard Spiked Apple 5k
The Deal's Orchard Spiked Apple 5k takes place in Jefferson, Iowa, at a local farm and orchard. The event offers participants a scenic tour of the grounds, which feature flower fields, a pumpkin patch, and apple trees. The course follows a cross-country style route across two laps, though some areas may have uneven footing.
Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 5 km
- 1.5 miles
The 5 km distance is chip-timed and scored, while the 1.5 mile walk consists of one lap of the course. All participants receive a registration package that includes a super soft ring-spun cotton t-shirt, a finisher medal that doubles as a bottle opener, and a chip-timed race bib for the 5 km event. After the race, participants are provided with a homemade cider donut and a pour of cider. Participants under the age of 21 receive a discounted registration that excludes the cider glass and alcoholic cider.
The event includes age group awards for the top three male and female finishers in several 10-year categories. These awards are available for pickup at the registration table following the completion of the race. Free finisher photos are also captured and made available for download after the event. Service dogs are the only animals permitted on the course.
