Event
The Whiterock Ultra is scheduled for July 25, 2026 at Whiterock Conservancy in Coon Rapids, Iowa. The event offers two distances:
- 50 Mile
- 50K
The race takes place on a 5,500-acre land trust with about 40 miles of trails. Proceeds are donated to Whiterock Conservancy. Sponsors listed include Hammer Nutrition and POET. Custom awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each race, and all finishers receive a unique award. Overnight options at Whiterock include on-site camping, cabins for rent, and nearby bed and breakfasts.
Course and logistics
Both courses use three named loops - Red, White and Blue. Loop distances are:
- Red Loop: 7.6 miles
- White Loop: 11.6 miles
- Blue Loop: 11.9 miles
The 50K route combines the Red, White and Blue loops and is listed with about 3,000 feet of climb. The 50 Mile route uses two Red loops, two White loops and one Blue loop with about 5,000 feet of climb. There are two full aid stations positioned so runners pass a full aid every 7-8 miles; water is noted at Oak Ridge Campground and Star Field Campground, and Garst Family Lake is an aid station. The event start/finish area is at the River House Barn (River Campground). The venue is roughly an hour from Des Moines and about 1.5 hours from Omaha.
