Event Details

The Whiterock Ultra takes place on the trails of the Whiterock Conservancy in Coon Rapids, Iowa. The 8th edition is scheduled for a weekend in late July. Event activities are centered on the scenic, 5,500-acre land trust, which has 40 miles of trails along the Middle Raccoon River Valley. The event supports the conservancy, with proceeds donated back to it.

Distances

The event offers two race distances:

  • 50 Miler
  • 50K

Course Information

The 50K course consists of three loops (red, white, and blue) with approximately 3,000 feet of climb. The 50-mile course consists of two red loops, two white loops, and one blue loop, with approximately 5,000 feet of climb. Two full aid stations are located on the course, which runners pass every 7-8 miles.

Location and Access

The start/finish area is at the River Campground on Fig Avenue in Coon Rapids. The venue is about an hour's drive from Des Moines and 1.5 hours from Omaha. On-site camping is available for a small fee, and other nearby accommodations include cabins and bed and breakfasts.

Other Information

Custom awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each distance, and all finishers receive a unique award.
