Whiterock Ultra : July 25, 2026

The Whiterock Ultra is an ultramarathon held at Whiterock Conservancy in Coon Rapids, Iowa. The conservancy is a 5,500-acre nonprofit land trust with about 40 miles of trails and seven miles along the Middle Raccoon River Valley. Proceeds from the event are donated back to Whiterock Conservancy. The event offers awards for the top three finishers, male and female, in each distance, and a unique award for all finishers. Sponsors listed include Hammer Nutrition and POET.

Course and logistics

Distances:

  • 50 Mile - two RED loops, two WHITE loops, one BLUE loop.
  • 50K - one RED loop, one WHITE loop, one BLUE loop.

Loop lengths are specified as: Red Loop 7.6 miles, White Loop 11.6 miles, and Blue Loop 11.9 miles. The 50K course has approximately 3,000 feet of climb and the 50-mile course has approximately 5,000 feet of climb. The course includes two full aid stations that runners pass every 7-8 miles. The race start/finish area is at the River Campground / River House Barn at Whiterock Conservancy, 1314 Fig Avenue, Coon Rapids, IA. The site is roughly one hour from Des Moines and about 1.5 hours from Omaha. An inclement weather policy allows officials to delay, alter, or cancel the course and to use gravel road alternatives if trails become unsafe.
