Deaf-initely Can 5K & Fun Run
The Deaf-initely Can 5K & Fun Run takes place on September 26, 2026, at Legacy High School, 3003 Henry S Grace Fwy, Wichita Falls, TX 76302. The event features both a 5K run/walk and a separate 1 mile fun run for participants of different ages and preferences.
- 5K (3.1 miles), route on city streets starting and ending at Legacy High School.
- 1 mile, four laps on the Legacy High School track.
The 5K course leaves Legacy High School, continues along Midwestern Pkwy E, turns down Brewster Street, loops halfway around the Career Education Center, and returns to Legacy High School. The 1 mile event is held entirely on the school track as four laps.
Proceeds benefit the Wichita Falls Regional Day School Program for the Deaf. Funds support field trips for preschool through senior students, extra learning materials for teachers and families, workshops for parents and educators, transportation for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing activities, hearing assistive technology for classrooms, social events, and other program needs throughout the year. The program serves over 100 Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students across Region 9, including Wichita Falls ISD, Burkburnett ISD, and neighboring SSAs.
Registration opens July 16, 2026, and closes September 26, 2026. Fees are $35 for the 5K and $30 for the 1 mile. Registration includes a shirt. Discounts are available for current RDSPD Deaf Ed families and WFISD staff with a coupon code. The event proceeds rain or shine. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
