2026 DC SAFE 5k & Half
The DC SAFE 5k & Half takes place in the Georgetown area of Washington, D.C. This event offers two distinct distances, both utilizing the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path. The course consists of a light gravel dirt trail that is primarily flat with minimal elevation changes.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- Half Marathon
- 5 km
The Half Marathon follows an out-and-back route starting and ending in Georgetown near the Potomac Boat Club. The 5 km distance starts and finishes at Fletcher’s Boathouse. Walkers are welcome to participate in both events.
Participants receive a finisher's medal, a technical event shirt, and chip timing. Water stations are positioned along the course, with seven stations for the half marathon and one for the 5k. The event benefits DC SAFE, a nonprofit organization that provides crisis intervention services for survivors of domestic violence.
Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top two in various age groups ranging from 19 and under to 70 and over. Results are tracked via chip timing and posted live online. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual run option is available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
