2026 DC SAFE 5k & Half
The event on October 11 includes a Half Marathon and a 5k that take place in Georgetown and at Fletcher’s Boathouse in Washington, DC. Both races use the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path and are run as out-and-back courses.
- Half Marathon : out-and-back on C&O Canal; light gravel dirt surface, minimal elevation change
- 5k : out-and-back on C&O Canal; flat light gravel trail, no major elevation gains
Walkers are welcome. A virtual race option is available. Points from these races count toward the Year-Long 5k, Endurance, and Back of the Pack Series and toward the Fall Series.
Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (Drifit) event shirt, and chip timing. Live results will be posted on Athlinks and final race results with series points will be published the Monday after the race. Awards are given to the top three men and top three women overall and to 1st and 2nd place in standard age categories from 19 & under through 70 plus.
Logistics include packet pickup at Road Runner Sports the day before the race and no on-site race registration. The half marathon course will have seven water stations; the 5k course will have one water station. The race benefits DC SAFE, an organization that provides crisis intervention and survivor-defined advocacy. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
