Event Overview
The Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Waco is a multi-distance running event held at Indian Springs Park in Waco, Texas. This "Texas Parks Edition" event takes participants through local park landscapes, featuring routes that weave past sparkling lakes and towering trees. The courses primarily utilize paved trails, though runners may also encounter surfaces such as crushed granite or dirt paths.
A central feature of the event is the costume contest inspired by Dia de los Muertos traditions. Participants are encouraged to wear creative attire, such as painted calavera faces or skeletal costumes, which are evaluated by judges before the start. The event also features a post-race celebration at a rally tent with live music, a DJ, and Mexican-themed treats and refreshments.
