Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Waco
The event takes place at Indian Springs Park in Waco, Texas and offers multiple race options and a virtual alternative. Distances on the schedule include:
- Kids Dash : 20 yards, for children 10 and under
- 1 Mile : open to all ages
- 5K : 3.11 miles, chip timed
- Quarter Marathon : 6.55 miles, chip timed
- Half Marathon : 13.1 miles, chip timed
- Volunteer then Run : includes a chip timed bib, tee, and finisher medal
- Virtual Run : 13.1 miles virtual option
The course is set in parks and green belts and may include paved trails, crushed granite and dirt paths. Aid stations are placed along the route to provide water and basic assistance. Packet pickup is offered starting 1.5 hours before the event start. Shirts are guaranteed if registered at least 10 days before the event.
A pre-race costume contest is held at the start area and is judged on creativity and authenticity, with a Best Costume Award and prize package for the winner. Post-race activities at the rally tent include live music and awards announcements, plus snacks and refreshments for finishers.
Volunteer roles include course monitors and aid station staff. Full race volunteers receive a race shirt, souvenir medal subject to availability, VIP access and a choice of a free future race entry or a $20 pre-paid digital gift card.
