The Dava Way 50k - Event details
The Dava Way 50k is a trail ultramarathon held on 7th November 2026. The race distance is 50 km and the cutoff time is 8 hours. Entry is limited to 300 runners and the entry fee is £65. An official race handbook is issued to each competitor.
Route and course features
The route starts in Grantown-on-Spey and finishes in Forres, following much of the Dava Way. The race uses about 38 kilometres of the old Highland Railway line and includes a short town loop to reach the full 50 km distance. Terrain includes woodland, moorland and farm track, with traffic-free runnable trails along the River Spey, open moor around Dava, and a long descent into the pastoral landscape near Forres. The Dava summit reaches 321 m (1052 ft). Notable features on the route include the Divie viaduct, the Breathing Place at Dunphail, the Halfway Hut (restored shelter with solar panels) and two wood sculptures near the summit area.
Entries and support
Entries are offered on a first come, first served basis. Competitors must be over 18 and have some experience with ultra distance running. GPX route files and a race map are made available in advance. Volunteers support the event with marshalling, catering and other tasks.
