Event Overview
The Dash for the Dogs is an annual event held in Barrington, Illinois, at the Jewel Tea Pavilion. Currently in its 13th year, this event functions as a fundraiser to support the dogs and cats residing at the Animal House Shelter, a non-profit rescue organization. All proceeds from the registration fees and donations directly benefit the animals at this facility.
Course Information
Participants can choose between two distinct event distances:
- 5K Run/Walk: A certified and timed course suitable for various skill levels.
- 1 Mile Family Fun Walk: A shorter distance held following the completion of the longer race.
Participants are permitted to bring dogs on both the 5K and the 1 Mile routes. All participating dogs must be up to date on vaccinations and demonstrate social behavior toward other animals and people.
Recognition and Activities
The event features specific recognition for canine participants, with prizes awarded to the first two dogs that cross the finish line. Beyond the physical race, participants have the option to create individual fundraising pages to assist the shelter in its mission to rescue animals from high-kill facilities and provide them with care until they are matched with permanent homes.
