Event
The Dash for the Dogs 13th Annual 5K Run/Walk takes place on May 17, 2026 in Barrington, Illinois. The event includes the following distances:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1 Mile Family Fun Walk
Dogs are allowed to participate in the run or walk. Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations and be well behaved around other animals and people. The first two dogs to cross the finish line receive prizes. The course is certified and timed by J3 Timing. Awards are given to the top male and female finishers overall and to the top three male and female finishers in each age group: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over.
Logistics and charity
The event is centered at the Jewel Tea Pavilion, 511 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL 60010; the pavilion is the race start and the check-in location. Registration pricing is tiered: $35 pre-registration until April 13, 2026; $40 from April 14 to May 16, 2026; and $50 on race day. Children under 10 register free. T-shirts for 2026 are available while supplies last. The event is organized to raise funds for Animal House Shelter, a 501(c)(3) no-kill shelter founded in June 2002; 100% of proceeds support the shelter’s dogs and cats.
