Dash for the Dogs 13th Annual 5K Run/Walk
Dash for the Dogs 13th Annual 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for May 17, 2026 in Barrington, Illinois, at 511 Lake Zurich Road - Jewel Tea Pavilion. The event comprises two distances:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1 Mile Family Fun Walk
The event raises funds for dogs and cats under the care of Animal House Shelter. One hundred percent of proceeds support the shelter. Animal House Shelter is a 501C3 organization; donations are tax deductible. The shelter, founded in June 2002, rescues animals from high kill facilities, and also accepts owner relinquishments. Animals are rehabilitated and matched with prospective adopters for placement in permanent homes.
Dogs may participate in the run or walk if they are up to date on vaccinations and are well behaved around other animals and people. The race is certified and timed by J3 Timing. Prizes are awarded to the first two dogs to cross the finish line.
Awards are given to the top male and female finishers overall, and to the top three male and female finishers in each age group. Children under 10 may participate for free.
