Dartmouth Triathlon
The Dartmouth Triathlon is an annual multisport event held at Blackpool Sands Beach. This edition marks the twelfth year of the event. The race begins with a sea swim in the clear waters of Blackpool Sands, followed by a circular bike course and an out and back run along Blackpool Valley Road that rises gently to the turn.
The bike course is organised so that sprint entries complete one lap while standard distance entries complete two laps. A second bike drop transition has been placed on the other side of the A379 to remove a road crossing that affected the run route in previous years. Entry to the triathlons is limited to 350 participants.
Additional swim events take place on the Saturday evening with the following sea swim distances:
- 750 m sea swim
- 1500 m sea swim
- 3 km sea swim
Safety and event services include water safety cover from Teignmouth Beach Surf Life Saving Club, electronic chip timing with transition splits, numbered racking, feed stations, and medals for all finishers. Participants receive a silicone swim hat and a Sportiva water bottle. There is an option to camp on the beach the night before for an additional charge. Entry fees for event options are listed from £65 to £90. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
