Darren Holloway Memorial Race (Buttermere Horseshoe)

Website Registration

The Darren Holloway Memorial Race, known as the Buttermere Horseshoe, is a challenging fell running event held in the Lake District, starting and finishing at Loweswater Village Hall. It features two courses: a long 35.5 km route with 2515 m ascent and a shorter 20.8 km course with 1518 m ascent, both classified as "AL" category races. The race follows the original Buttermere Horseshoe route over quiet fells, with flagged paths to Lanthwaite Green and navigational route choices on the tops.

Participants must be experienced in fell running and navigation, as GPS is prohibited and weather can be variable. The event offers a tough but rewarding day out with refreshments and free parking. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Always double-check with the organizer's website – things can change, and we might have sprinted past a few details!
