Dark Star River Marathon
The Dark Star River Marathon is a trail marathon held in February along the River Adur. The course is a 28.2 trail marathon that runs up one side of the river, follows part of the Downslink past the Dark Star Brewery at Partridge Green, and returns down the other side. The organisers describe the route as muddy and plan fully stocked aid stations.
The event is organised by runners for runners and starts at Shoreham Sea Scout Hut, next to Adur Outdoor Centre. Entry is limited and the race has sold out in previous years. The organisers ask that only runners who have previously completed a trail marathon enter, and that all runners carry appropriate clothing and a mobile phone for the event. The event operates under ARC Running Club rules and has a 6.30 hour cut-off.
Practical details noted by the organisers include an entry fee of £40/£42 for affiliated and unaffiliated runners, a bag store, and hot home-made soup at the finish. Permit and insurance details will be available at the start. The organisers state there are no refunds or transfers for this race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
