Dark Dorset 10 : Eastbury Park
The Dark Dorset 10 is a twilight 10 km trail run at Eastbury Park, Tarrant Gunville, on an entirely off-road route. The course leaves the park, passes through wooded sections and enters the park at Chettle before returning toward Eastbury House.
Runners pass historical features and local landmarks along the route, including Bloody Shard Gate : described as the site of a skirmish in which a sergeant lost a hand : and the Chettle Long barrow. The drive at Eastbury Park is associated with a local ghost story involving a headless horseman and a coach; that apparition is said to appear at midnight.
Medals, trophies and refreshments are provided. Canicross is not permitted. Entries are limited to 200 participants. The listed entry fee for the event is £27.50.
