Race The Light
Race The Light is a trail running event held in Mothecombe on the Erme Estuary. It offers two course options and follows estuarine trails through the privately owned Flete Estate. The course layout includes multiple crossings of the River Erme and sections on coastal paths.
- 8.5 miles Classic course
- Half Marathon
The Classic route starts on the estuary slipway, runs through woodland loops on the Flete Estate, includes a double crossing of the estuary and finishes after a steep uphill section above the estuary. The Half Marathon shares sections of the Classic route but omits the two woodland loops, includes a five mile section on the South West Coast Path and crosses the estuary on the return only. A three hour cut off applies for the second crossing on the Half Marathon.
Courses are fully marked and marshalled. First aid is available on course and at headquarters. A head torch is mandatory because tidal and weather conditions can affect timing on race day. Dogs are not permitted with runners during the race. Each finisher receives a bespoke Race The Light medal. The minimum age for entry is 17 years or older.
