Event overview
Race The Light is scheduled for Saturday 6 December 2025 at Mothecombe on the Erme Estuary in Devon. The event is organised by OuterEdge Events and runs under a permit from the Trail Running Association and England Athletics rules. The course is on the privately owned Flete Estate and around the Erme Estuary. Each finisher will receive a bespoke Race The Light medal.
Courses and logistics
The event offers the following distances:
- 8.5 miles Classic
- Half Marathon
The Classic follows shadowy estuarine trails through the Flete Estate and includes a double crossing of the River Erme, with wet ground expected at crossings. The Classic starts on the estuary slipway and finishes after a steep uphill ascent to the SchoolhouseDevon restaurant. The Half Marathon uses parts of the Classic route but omits two woodland loops, adds about five miles on the South West Coast Path, and returns to the estuary for a final crossing at Wonwell. There is a 3.25 hour cut-off for the final crossing on the Half Marathon. The course will be fully marked and marshalled, with first aid on course and at headquarters. A head torch is mandatory.
