Dana Peak Trail Run
The Dana Peak Trail Run is held at Dana Peak Park on the north shore of Stillhouse Hollow Lake in Harker Heights, Texas. The course uses single-loop formats and follows trails that ascend and descend rocky terrain along the lake shore. Much of the system runs through trees with some exposed sections and multiple climbs that offer views of the lake.
Distances offered include:
- 10K: 1 x 10K loop (≈7 miles)
- 20K: 1 x 20K loop, ≈1530 ft ascent/descent
- 50K: 1 x 50K loop, ≈3354 ft ascent/descent
- 100K: 2 x 50K loop, ≈6708 ft total ascent/descent
The 50K and 100K courses have six aid stations per loop with most stations spaced about 3 to 5 miles apart and one segment of about 7 miles between stations. The remote Lost-n-Found aid station is not vehicle accessible and provides a limited set of supplies including water, Gatorade, SaltStick and basic first aid. This is a cupless event; a collapsible reusable cup is available for purchase.
Mandatory equipment includes a hydration device for all participants; 50K and 100K runners must carry enough water for the longest aid station gap. Drop bags are allowed for 50K and 100K at the Stillhouse Hollow aid station and must be labeled. Only 100K runners may use a pacer, and only on the second loop. Awards, finisher medals or buckle, shirt ordering deadline, and the event credit and transfer policy are specified by the organizer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
