Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot
The Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot is an annual Thanksgiving Day running event held in downtown Elmhurst. The 43rd edition takes place on Thursday, November 26, 2026, and features a 5K fun run. The event is organized to raise funds and support for food pantries and community service organizations within DuPage County.
Beneficiaries include a range of local organizations such as Bensenville Wood Dale Food Pantry, Loaves & Fishes Community Services, Peoples Resource Center, DuPage PADS, Elmhurst-Yorkfield Food Pantry and several other community pantries and service groups. The Dan Gibbons Foundation reports that it has donated nearly $5 million and supported the provision of over four million meals, with funds kept within DuPage County.
Packet pick up is offered on two weekends and on race day at specified Elmhurst locations. Pre-race packet pick up is at the Knights of Columbus Renaissance Room, 537 S. York Street, Elmhurst, on Saturday, November 21 and Sunday, November 22, 2026 from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm. Race day packet pick up is at Elmhurst University Gym, 221 Walter Street, Elmhurst, on Thursday, November 26, 2026 from 7:00 am to 8:30 am.
