Dam Yeti 50 - Abingdon, VA
The Dam Yeti 50 event takes place in and around Abingdon, Virginia and offers multiple trail distances. The event is point-to-point for some races and includes a shorter Pepsi Challenge on the following day.
The course description notes the first 9.8 miles are predominantly downhill with National Forest views, followed by a 6.9-mile section into the mountain town of Damascus. A noted landmark is a broken Pepsi machine located between Damascus and Alvarado. The 50-mile distance is an out-and-back with a pacer pickup option; the 55K is a straight point-to-point route.
Logistics include a shuttle from the Abingdon trailhead, self-drop at the start, and crew access points along a well-supported course. The event is cupless, so a hydration pack or bottle is mandatory. Finish and start locations are listed for the main distances, and the Pepsi Challenge finishes at The Meadows in Abingdon. Timing is provided by a chip-timing service with real-time tracking and live splits.
The Dam Yeti is part of the From Start to Heart series; series registration is limited and a separate series registration fee is noted for full-series entry. A special award is offered for completing the Saturday and Sunday events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
