Dam Yeti 50
Dam Yeti is a point to point race on the Virginia Creeper Trail described as the fastest ultra course in the country. The route begins with 9.8 miles of downhill through National Forest, then passes into the mountain town of Damascus and continues past a legendary broken Pepsi machine located between Damascus and Alvarado that is rumored to dispense trail magic. Both the 50 Mile and 55K finish at Sweetbay Brewing Co. in Abingdon.
The event offers several distance formats:
- 50 Mile out and back with pacer pickup option
- 55K straight point to point to Abingdon
- 25K Pepsi Challenge starts at the Pepsi machine and finishes at The Meadows, 78 Cook St, Abingdon VA
Logistics note that the race is cupless so a hydration pack or bottle is mandatory. A morning shuttle from the Abingdon Trailhead is available and self-drop at the start is allowed. The course is well supported and includes crew access points. Chip timing is provided by Zen Arcade Timing.
The Dam Yeti also serves as the middle leg of the From Start to Heart series, a three-race Appalachian series. A series registration costs $450 and the series is limited to 50 participants. Registration for the event opens on November 26, 2026. A special award is offered for completing the 50 Mile and the Sunday 25K as a double.
