Bridge & Trestle 17 Mile Run
The Bridge & Trestle 17 Mile Run is a trail race scheduled for December 2026 in Damascus, Virginia. Organized by the State of Franklin Track Club, the event takes place entirely on the Virginia Creeper Trail. This run serves as a component of both the club’s Trail Series and Long Distance Series competitions.
The event features a distance of 17 miles. The course utilizes the natural terrain of the converted rail-trail. In an effort to keep the trail clean and reduce waste, the race operates as a cup-less event. Participants can use their own hydration systems or utilize collapsible cups provided during packet pickup at the aid stations along the route.
Registration for this event is free of charge. Upon finishing the run, participants have access to hot beverages and snacks. Instead of traditional trophies or medals, the organizers provide handmade mementos to specific finishers. These mementos, which for this edition are zippered shoe bags featuring the club logo, are awarded to the overall male and female winners, the participant who finishes exactly in the middle of the field, and the final finisher of the race.
