Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot - Dallas, TX
The Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot is an annual Thanksgiving Day running event organized by the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas and held at Dallas City Hall, 1500 Marilla Street, Dallas, TX. The event traces its origins to 1967 at White Rock Lake and includes multiple participation formats and age categories.
Race distances offered include:
- 8 Mile
- 5K
Participants can choose timed or untimed entry options. A virtual option allows completion of the 5K or 8 mile distance at a location of the participant's choice within a defined results window; virtual participants may have packets mailed or pick them up at regular packet pickup locations.
Age-specific offerings include youth divisions and a Tots/Toddlers/Strollers category for newborns to age six, which provides a race shirt upon registration. The Diaper Dash is a separate crawling race on a soft mat of roughly 12 feet; multiple short race slots are scheduled and each Diaper Dash entry includes a long sleeve onesie in sizes 9mo, 12mo, or 18mo and a cloth bib.
Additional event features include The Roost hospitality area with breakfast and post-race snacks, a Team Challenge scored by adding the top four team member times in the timed 5K, and a Costume Contest with prizes and a separate Dog Costume Contest. A fundraising component supports the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
