Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot
The Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot is an annual running and walking event organized by the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas and held at Dallas City Hall, 1500 Marilla Street, Dallas, TX. The event began in 1967 at White Rock Lake and has since expanded to include multiple race formats, community activities, and fundraising for the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas.
Available race formats and categories include:
- 8 Mile run/walk, timed and untimed
- 5K run/walk, timed and untimed
- Virtual 8 Mile or 5K, completed between November 19 and December 3
- Diaper Dash for crawling babies on a soft 12 ft mat
- Tots/Toddlers/Strollers for newborn through age 6
- Youth category for ages 7 to 12
Additional event offerings include The Roost, a paid gathering area on Dallas City Hall Plaza with pre-race breakfast, beverages, post-race snacks, and semi-private restrooms; Premium passes include alcoholic beverages for guests 21 and over. The Team Challenge applies to the timed 5K, scores by adding the top four runners' times on teams with a minimum of four members. A Costume Contest for registered participants and a Dog Costume Contest offer prizes such as YMCA family memberships and Southwest Airlines round trip tickets.
