Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot : Dallas City Hall
The Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving Day running event held at Dallas City Hall. The event features multiple race formats and entry options to accommodate a range of participants.
Distances offered:
- 8 Mile run/walk
- 5K run/walk
- Diaper Dash for crawling babies
Racing formats include timed and untimed entries, a virtual option, and age-specific categories for youth (ages 7-12) and tots/toddlers (newborn to age 6). Timed participants use an exclusive timed participant corral; dogs and strollers are not allowed inside that corral. Virtual participants may complete their 5K or 8 mile distance at a location of their choice within a designated window, and can have a race packet mailed or pick it up at regular packet pickup locations.
The Diaper Dash uses a soft mat about 12 feet long, includes a long sleeve onesie (sizes 9mo, 12mo, 18mo) and a cloth bib showing the medal image, and is formatted with multiple short start slots. The event also hosts a Team Challenge in the timed 5K where teams (minimum four scoring runners) have the top four times summed for team scoring; team results are posted after the event.
Additional features include The Roost hospitality area with food, beverages, and restroom access, a costume contest with specified prizes, and a dog costume contest. The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas lists a fundraising goal of $30,000 and reported $1,140.77 raised. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
