Event Overview
The 15th annual Daily News Press Run takes place in Galveston, Texas. This community event supports the Newspapers In Education (NIE) program, which provides classroom resources to help students develop reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. The event coincides with Literacy Day and is held in partnership with Smart Family Literacy, Inc.
The event offers several participation options:

Course and Atmosphere
The 5K and 10K routes are certified courses that include the Galveston Causeway. In addition to the running races, the event grounds feature music, food, and dozens of vendor booths. A costume contest is held where participants dress as their favorite book characters. A panel of judges selects first, second, and third-place winners in both adult and child categories, with prizes provided by local merchants.
Facilities and Logistics
Participants can utilize a bag drop service located at the information station for a small donation to the NIE program. Official runner parking is located at the Target parking lot on Broadway in Galveston. Shuttle buses transport participants between the parking area and the event site throughout the morning. Those who register for both the Galveston and the Texas City editions of the Press Run series receive a bundle discount on registration fees.
