About the race
Current Situation 5K is an in-person event organized by Sand Mountain Park at 1325 S.M.P.A. Boulevard in Albertville, Alabama on Labor Day 2026 (Monday, September 7).
Participants walk or run the park's lazy river against the current. Distance is measured by laps: 10 laps equal one mile and 30 laps equal 5k. Participants have a two hour time limit to complete the 5k.
Each registration includes an event pass for the participant, a day pass that may be used by the participant or a guest, a post-race meal, and a finisher medal. The event has an age minimum of 12 years; those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
